every year, always.
Death Cab for Cutie — The New Year
So 2009 was a crazy year. I remember saying, at the end of 2008, that I’ve never had a more busy, eventful, emotional year. 2009 totally topped 2008. For that, I’m eternally beholden to my friends, my bio family, my marching alliance family,.. and my boyfriend, Sean. :D Seriously, this year’s been something else!
With winter came
- a free tree in the mail
- the first two times (of four this year) that I dyed my hair
- a new phone that will follow me into adulthood :O
- an epic post-festival Nerf war (yes, more noteworthy than you’d know)
…among other activities & things, and that also happened to be the best drumline season ever. We made SCPA championships for the first time, with our amazingly cool show, Internal Rhythms.
Uh, and with spring…
- I missed a once in a lifetime opportunity, but my friends who didn’t were really sweet and took pictures of me “on” the trip, and brought back awesome souvenirs
- I modeled for a fashion show, never doing that again
- I took my first AP exam (it was for Music Theory) and I passed it!
- I marched in the Armed Forces Day parade (renewed my respect for my marching friends)
- After the Armed Forces parade, I asked Sean out (: it’s been a very happy seven and a half months since that fateful day. That was the highlight of my year, pretty much.
- On June 6th, I wasted my time and money on the SAT, with only 30 minutes to spare between the exam and a huge fundraiser gig. And by wasted, I mean a few days later, I decided I’m definitely going to junior college after high school, then transferring after two years.
- took part in a jazz band recording session - which I’m listening to as I type this!
- I became band quartermaster & webmaster
- I got a D in Pavao’s. That’s probably my lowlight of the year.
Yeah, spring was busy. Summer, I got to chill out a little. While Sean was in Japan for nearly six weeks, I
- did lots of officer work and surrogate section leading
- watched friends perform at a DCI show
- went to IKEA like 28472834 times and transformed my room (well.. yeah, kinda)
- When Sean came home, summer picked up so much!
- A particular outing I’d like to mention was my seventeenth birthday. Lunch & yogurt with Kat and Sean, and then beach with Sean (it was first of a handful of beach trips that last month of summer)
I had lots of fun. Then fall came along, senior year started, and blahhhhallmytimewentdownthedrain. Had a crazy last marching season O:
Oh, and I got contacts. And the whole holiday season took me by surprise.
This whole year, as much as I enjoyed it, went by so fast, and from here,… it’s not going to get any slower or easier, lol. I’m a little anxious to see how it’s going to go, but excited, too. Confident, unafraid, yadda yadda. Hahahahaha.
I still don’t have any new year resolutions. It’s all good though!
Yeah. Thanks for bearing with me and my 2009 list thing, and extra thanks to the ones who do that every year xD I love you all, and wish you an amazing new year.
I have none. I haven’t in years.
It’s self-assigned penance for problems with easy solutions
