Mr. Velasco shot a 25 year old roll of Kodak film. This is what he learned:

  • Film loses one stop of sensitivy after a decade (so, compensate for it).
  • Expired film will throw a color cast, but if you think it’s lookin’ funn, you can adjust it in post-processing!

Phillip Stearn’s Year of the Glitch is a daily documentation of strange yet beautiful glitches.

So far, Phillip’s focused on cameras — the photos here come from a 1.3MP Olympus digital camera,  a Canon G5, and a Canon Digital Rebel.

Film roll fails make me sad too! Last year my first roll of film got wiped (sadly, that wasn’t the last time), which bothered me so much, until my teacher lent me a Rebel to use over Thanksgiving break.

Aww. At least yours got recovered. That was nice of your teacher to lend you the Rebel. I have to take new photos again, and I put so much effort into the photoshoot I did with my brother. It really made me upset. Like as if someone threw a little blob of blank paint on Mona Lisa’s smile, when Leonardo da Vinci was just about to finish it. That kind of disappointment. LOL. Fskfjldfk. At least this time, I can try and make more creative shots. Photography class is really fun though, but there’s just so much that can go wrong in the process of developing photos!

Hooray for second chances! (:
I loved photo… I think I enjoyed developing photos more than taking them — I think because I only borrowed the Rebel once… the rest of the time, I had to work with some sketchy cameras. But yeah. I learned how important it is to be clean and pay attention to detail… have you guys been working with traditional photography all year long?

You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out.: Chemicals can kill, and chemicals can help.

It all depends how you use them. I think those chemicals in the dark room are really getting to me.

Nah, I’m just PMSing…

I’m still upset about all my negatives not being developed at all today. I was all alone in the room, and I could have cried there and then to myself when I saw nothing on…
